I was raised Catholic, and even went to Catholic school until 2nd grade. I did go to Baptist church some because my mom is Baptist. I really enjoyed being Catholic because of the Holy Communion, confessional, and sunday school. Baptist church I decided was a little too long for me! As I grew up, we stopped going to church as much because my brothers and I decided it wasn't as fun to go to a service, as it was to be in sunday school. I have always believed in God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, but I never really took much interest in the details.

My first year overseas, I went to St. Petersburg, Russia, and I had a lot of time on my hands, so I decided to learn more about religion. I decided to start reading the Bible, to try and understand things better, and to try and find out how I could better serve the Lord. I wasn't really expecting much when I started reading the Bible, so it was to my surprise when I actually found it somewhat fun to read about the history of God and Jesus, and everything. A lot of things started to become clear to me, and I can say now that I really try and take religion seriously. My beliefs were further deepened when I got the opportunity to play basketball in Israel. I feel extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to see where everything first began. I even walked the route that Jesus supposedly walked with the cross. I got to see the place where Jesus was supposedly burried. After travelling to Israel, I was very touched by being where Jesus was, and I felt extremely lucky to have gotten the opportunity to do so, because not everyone gets this chance.

I wouldn't call myself a very religious person, because I don't go to church often, but I believe in God, and I believe that Jesus died on the cross for us, as a sacrifice for our sins. I try and thank God every day for all the things he has given me, most importantly my life, my family and friends, the opportunity to play basketball for a living, and to travel to all different parts of the world and meet all kinds of people. I try and remember that "All things are possible through Christ".
